Fashion Photography Shoot: The final shots and the whole experience…

As part of my 250MC module I was asked to work with a group of five others to photograph clothing produced by a second year fashion student.  This involves all of us taking a selection of images of the same clothing but with different themes.  The benefits of this are numerous and it gives the fashion student an excellent range of images of her clothing in different settings.  It also gives us the opportunity to mix with people involved in a similar field of work to us.  Networking with fashion students is a great move whichever way you look at it.

I’m not going to make a secret that I prefer to work on my own.  Yes indeed, in my school report it did say ‘Does not play well with others’.  However, projects like this are set for a purpose and I understood the reasons behind this task.  At some point or another I ‘will’ have to work with others whether I want to or not.

The organisation behind this shoot was quite complex as we decided to do a studio shoot.  There were props to be sorted and themes to be decided upon.  To make things easier we had arranged two models and a hair & make-up technician.  This did make all the difference.  One important factor behind this shoot being a success was the fact that we allowed time for error.  In other words, should anything have gone wrong on the day we still would have had time to do another shoot.  That was a very important thing to consider.

Its fair to say that the whole shoot was a great success.  We all managed to get the shots we wanted and it was a great experience.  Shooting with a group of people can work if you are all singing from the same hymn sheet.  Amen to that.

So on reflection, I am glad that I shot with the group.  Yes, it was hard and there is a lot of trust involved as you are relying on other people.  I got to know some of the students on my course a lot better.  We had the chance to work closely together and share ideas.  Yes, it was a great experience.

  2. Good show! Working with a team is certainly an experience.

Nice and clean, like the blue on blue.
The blue reminded me of Tim Walker’s work for L.K.Bennett.
