352mc Professional Photographic Practice: New street photography guidelines

leave a comment »

As much of my work involves taking images in public places it is vital that I know my rights.  Like many others I have had the odd confrontation with members of the public and those in law enforcement. The main problem is that those who were confronting me never knew the law.  In all honesty, it should not be down to me to explain this to them, but it can defuse situations.

The Home Office has just released new guidelines, which are designed to clarify where ‘we’ as photographers and those trying to enforce (?) the law stand.

Click on the image below for a pdf of these guidelines.  Print off, keep and carry with you.  Simples.
