350MC Working with Photography in Context: Symposium Poster and event promotion

Our poster has now been produced for the forthcoming Symposium.  I’m not sure why but the one on the left is far more aesthetically pleasing.  This was produced by the other group who are showing dvd’s rather than speaking.

Although we agreed to take a vote, (with the majority vote choosing which image we used) a black & white image was selected.  I’m not so sure that this was ideal.  It lacks ‘punch’ in all honesty and the idea of having a poster is all about promotion.  Visual impact is vital.

However, this is our poster now and I have already started printing off copies and distributing them.  I have managed to distribute many copies on twitter and sent to creatives via email.  It is vital that we get a wide range of professionals from the industry to attend.

I also managed to deliver a fair amount to City College in Coventry where I completed my BTEC ND in Photography two years ago.  My lecturers will be attending and bring some college students who are looking at going to university next year.  This is great opportunity for them to receive a view into life at university and witness undergraduates speaking about their work.

I understand the importance of social media and am trying to push this symposium to its full potential.  Using the hashtag #Exposure24 is vital if we are to gain some kind of buzz around the event.  I am also using Facebook to its full potential by spreading the word on there through the Exposure 24 page which has been set up.
