It’s a hot one..

Summer has really hit Kyiv that’s for sure.  As the heat touched 29 degrees yesterday everybody seemed to head for the fountains around Independence Square to cool off.  I grabbed myself a glass of kbac from a street vendor and sat watching everyone enjoy the sun.

It wasn’t so long ago that a newspaper ran a street survey asking why people in Ukraine don’t smile.  Answers varied greatly ranging from government corruption to just an unhappiness with the country in general (poverty, poor economy, lack of freedom to travel etc..).

It’s nice to see that the weather seems to have changed this, if even for a short space of time.  And as you can clearly see, off duty female soldiers found time to let loose and join in with the frolics.  I’m just fetching myself another drink…

    • Well I decided to spell it as it was written on the vendors truck John. I did contemplate writing it as ‘kvas’ but ‘kbac’ is how it is written everywhere here so went with that. We are spoilt for choice with Ukrainian beer though that’s for sure!
