Holodomor 80th Anniversary – Seven Million Murdered By Forced Famine

with one comment

This weekend marks the 80th anniversary of the Holodomor.  For those not familiar, this was a forced starvation by Stallin on the Ukrainian people between 1932-1933.  Seven million lost their lives during this eighteen month period, with over one third of them being children.

In all honesty, until I started travelling to Ukraine I’m embarrassed to admit that I had never heard of the Holodomor, which just goes to show why this historical event needs more exposure.  There is an active campaign in the UK by the AUGB to raise awareness and you can find out more by clicking Here

  1. And the UK got ‘into bed’ with him Uncle Joe during and after WWII. And we nearly went Communist rather than capitalist, too.
    Sad. So very sad.
    We helped condemn millions.
